Gail Greenhut, LCSW

I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 1978 in Michigan where I grew up. I moved to Gainesville in 1981. I became licensed in Florida as a therapist (LCSW) in 1982 where I have lived ever since. I worked at a variety of in- and outpatient mental health and substance abuse agencies until 1990. Then I worked half time at Shands in social work department for 20 years and joined GFI as a half time therapist in 1992. Now that I am no longer at Shands, I provide therapy at GFI full-time.

I see individuals, couples, and families. I’ve come to be comfortable working with adults in a wide variety of arenas. I counself people who are dealing with depression and anxiety, relationship issues (ie: living together, same sex/opposite sex/trans, marital concerns, blended families and divorce adjustment). I also deal with work conflicts and drug and alcohol problems. I help individuals and families adjust to new or chronic illnesses or cope with the role reversal of dealing with aging parents. I see people with sexual orientation and gender issues as well (LGBT). I have afternoon and evening hours and take a variety of insurances.
